DanoneAqua Installs Rooftop Solar Panel At Mambal Plant

Largest Solar Rooftop In Central Java Installed By Total Solar Dg On Danone Aqua Factory In Klaten Indonesia

Jakarta bottled water company Danone-Aqua has installed state-of-the-art 704kW solar panels on the roof of its Mambal factory in Badong, Bali.

Built in partnership with Berkeley Energy Commercial Industry (BECIS), the rooftop solar panels generate 1,050 megawatts of electricity per year and reduce 882 tons of carbon dioxide per year.

Coordinating Minister for Marine Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Panjaitan welcomed the installation of solar panels on the roof of Danon-Aqua to combat climate change under the G20 President's Renewable Energy Transition Program.

"We appreciate such steps taken by industry players: what Danone-Aqua has done today. This shows the company's commitment as one of the stakeholders to encourage the support of the government to create a sustainable company using renewable energy and innovation. Luhut said on Wednesday when Danone Aqua's rooftop solar panel was inaugurated.

Danone Indonesia CEO Connie Ang said the company is committed to producing 100% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.

As a company committed to the vision of "One Planet One Health", Danone believes that the health of the planet and human health are interrelated. Addressing the impacts of climate change is part of 'Business for a Prosperous Planet and Prosperous Society', says Coney, while other industry stakeholders have called on the government to help accelerate Indonesia's energy transition.

Mambal Power Plant has received 800MWh Renewable Energy (REC) Certificate from PLN.

According to Dadan Kusdiana, director general of renewable energy at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the use of solar energy will help increase the share of renewable energy in Indonesia to 23 percent by 2025.

According to the company's plan, the solar panels on the roofs of all Danone-Aqua factories can reach a generating capacity of more than 15 megawatts by 2025. .

Besides Mambal, Danone-Aqua has also installed solar panels at factories in Siherang, Banuwangi, Klaten and Mekarsari. Together, the total output rose by 6.9 MW.

To prevent climate change, Danone-Aqua runs a circular packaging initiative, the #BijakBerplastik ("Be Plastic Wise") campaign. The company is committed to responsible water stewardship by conserving water resources, using water responsibly, and increasing access to clean drinking water around its operations and in other areas of Indonesia that do not have access to potable water.
