Arevon Energy has secured the supply of more than 2 GW of advanced DC Series 7 thin-film solar modules from First Solar to support its growing renewable energy portfolio. DC's guaranteed total of 700 MW includes supply orders placed before First Solar's Q2 2022 earnings announcement in July this year. These orders will add 2 gigawatts of First Solar's operating assets to Arevon's existing portfolio and support projects under development in the Midwest and Southwest regions.
"We are excited to expand our relationship with First Solar and help expand the solar currency chain in the US," said Arevon CEO John Breckenridge. “Acquiring US solar technology from First Solar allows for security of supply and helps reduce the risk of supply shortages and project delays. On a larger scale, it also allows us to support US PV innovation and expand domestic solar manufacturing capacity through our acquisition. Strategy."
The orders of this division ensure that "Arevon" will be able to implement the plans for the next five years.
"We are delighted that Arevon has decided to redouble its commitment to First Solar's Responsibly Produced technology," said Georges Antoine, Chief Commercial Officer of First Solar. These multi-year orders reflect a broader industry trend as developers de-risk their project portfolios through long-term strategic purchases and acquisitions of US solar. We are proud to enable great American developers like Arevon to thrive by providing them with the security and long-term vision they need."
First Solar is expanding its manufacturing capacity both domestically and abroad. In addition to the third plant under construction in Ohio, the company recently announced an investment of up to $1.2 billion to expand its manufacturing facility in Ohio and a new manufacturing facility, its fourth in the U.S., in the southeastern United States.
