Located 15 miles from ANAS headquarters, Black Bear Lightsource will provide solar power to ANAS under a 20-year power sales agreement with BP. The project serves as a hedge against price volatility in the natural gas market and also saves ANAS at least $40 million in the initial 20-year energy contract.

ANAS President and CEO Fred D. "ANSA saves money through local renewables that help provide our communities with reliable and affordable electricity," said Clark Jr., "Over the next 20 years, Black Bear Solar's stable cost of electricity In addition to maintaining, we have long-term stability and diversification in our energy portfolio."

Black Bear Solar was built using more than 280,000 ultra-low carbon solar panels made by Arizona-based First Solar, solar trackers made by New Mexico-based Array Technologies and foundation piles made by Mississippi-based Atla Steel. More than 400 people worked in the construction of the facility, most of them were local workers.

"This project is a great example of how solar can be an engine of jobs for Americans," said Kevin Smith, CEO of Lightsource BP America. "Black Bear Solar has created hundreds of U.S. supply chain jobs, supported local manufacturing and helped create long-term jobs for a clean energy future."

The Black Bear Solar Project is operational and currently generating electricity on the grid and will be fully operational in November 2022.

"We thank ANAS and Lightsource BP for their important announcement in Montgomery and congratulate them on the completion of this important project," said Montgomery County Commission Chairman Doug Singleton. This project will greatly support Montgomery County schools that do not receive dollars from the school system. This is a major economic development project for rural areas of our province with our strong business partner, Lightsource BP.
