KAI Launches Solar Panels In 40 Stations, Two Rail Workshops

Jakarta (Antara) - State railway company PT KAI on Thursday launched solar panels at 40 stations and two train workshops.

"The installation of solar panels at KAI facilities is part of KAI's commitment to participate in Indonesia's green development in terms of environmental, social and governance (ESG) by using new and renewable energy sources," KAI president Didik Hartantio said in a statement. Thursday.

Hartantio emphasized that the use of solar energy panels to reduce greenhouse gas emissions is in line with government policy as part of efforts to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.

By this year 2023, KAI will install solar panels at 40 power plants with a total capacity of 1,072.5 kW and provide 49.63 percent of the building's electricity needs.

Similarly, two railway workshops with a solar panel capacity of 594.6 KW cover 39 percent of the electricity demand.

The 40 stations equipped with solar panels are Pasar Senen, Tanjung Priok, Depok, Chitime, Jakarta Kota, Duri, Serpong, Parung Panjang, Chikini, Bogor, Gondangdia, Juanda, Manga Besar, Sawah Besar, Sirebon, Sirebon Pruhakan, Bretobs, and Kroa. station..

Also, solar panels are being installed in Silakapa, Yogyakarta, Ketapang, Probolingo, Jember, Rangkasbitung, Tangerong, Univ. Indonesia Station, Kawang, Semarang Tawang, Semarang Pongkol, Tegal, Pekalong, Solo Balapan, Madiun, Surabaya Pasarturi, Surabaya Gubeng, Malang, Bohonegoro and Wanokromo.

Meanwhile, train workshops with solar panels are Balai Yasa Mangarai in South Jakarta and Balai Yasa Yogyakarta.

Currently, the installation of solar panels in Balai Yasa Yogyakarta has reached the first phase or 33 kW capacity and the next phase of installation will be completed in March 2024.

The total capacity of solar panels at 40 stations is 1072.5 KW. This power varies from one station to another: the largest at Pasar Senen station - 88.0 kW, and the smallest at Probolingo station - 6.0 kW.
